Caring for Your Acrylic & Viscose Area Rug
Acrylic and viscose blends combine the durability of acrylic with the luxurious silky sheen of viscose. This pairing creates a rug that mimics the appearance of silk at a fraction of the cost—but viscose fibers are inherently delicate and moisture-sensitive. Proper care is essential to maintain the lustrous finish and structural integrity of your JUSTRUG.

Gentle Vacuuming
Vacuum your rug 1–2 times per week using a suction-only setting. Crucial: Disable the beater bar (rotating brush) entirely. The acrylic fibers are resilient, but the viscose component is vulnerable to snagging and fiber distortion from rotating brushes. Vacuum in the direction of the pile to maintain the rug's natural sheen.

Spill Response
Viscose absorbs moisture rapidly and is highly susceptible to watermarks. In the event of a spill, blot immediately with a clean, dry, white cotton cloth. Never rub or scrub. Rubbing will crush the viscose fibers and create permanent dull patches. For sticky or colored spills, apply a small amount of club soda to the cloth—never directly onto the rug.

Luster Maintenance
Rotate your rug 180° every 6 months to distribute foot traffic and UV exposure evenly. Viscose fibers are prone to localized crushing and fading. Schedule a professional dry cleaning every 12–18 months. Water-based cleaning can cause viscose to shrink, stiffen, or develop water stains. Always request a dry or low-moisture cleaning method.
Special Note: Viscose Sensitivity to Moisture
Viscose (also known as rayon) is a cellulose-based regenerated fiber that loses up to 50% of its tensile strength when wet. Never steam clean, wet shampoo, or use excessive water on this rug. If your rug gets significantly wet, lay it flat and allow it to air dry completely—never hang or fold a wet viscose-blend rug, as this will cause permanent distortion and fiber damage.

Strict Prohibitions
Never wet clean or steam clean. Viscose fibers weaken dramatically when exposed to water.
Never use a beater bar. The rotating brush will pull and permanently damage the viscose sheen.
Never use bleach or alkaline cleaners. These destroy both acrylic and viscose dye bonds.
Avoid placing in high-humidity rooms such as bathrooms—viscose absorbs ambient moisture and degrades.
